Spring has just arrived and, as the cold weather slips away, it’s finally time to start filling your schedules with this year’s hottest events. August 25 to 27 are dates for the diary, because today I’m giving away a pair of tickets to Rock en Seine festival.
In its fifteenth year, Rock en Seine will again take place in the Parc de Saint-Cloud on the banks of the River Seine just west of Paris. Pronounced the same way, scène is actually the French word for ‘stage’, making the name of this festival doubly apt!
From humble beginnings in 2003, this event has grown from a one-day mid-week concert with two stages, ten artists and 22,000 spectators to one of the most talked about music events in Europe.
Over the years, artists such as Massive Attack, The Chemical Brothers, Muse, The Prodigy, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, R.E.M, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys have headlined, and this year aims to be the biggest and best yet!
Spread out over three days, 2017’s Rock en Seine will see more than 65 bands perform on five stages to crowds of over 120,000 festivalgoers. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?!
THIS YEAR’S LINE UP
This year’s line up looks set to be one of the best yet. In March, it was announced that the headliners would include liberal Londoners The XX, priestess of Rock PJ Harvey, restless dandies Franz Ferdinand, and the poster boy of Australian electronica Flume.
Joining them are rock artists The Kills, Ty Segall, Marc DeMarco, At the Drive In, The Pretty Reckless and Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes.
To keep the vibe eclectic, there will also be hip hop from Cypress Hill, spicy pop from Jain, and electronica from French prodigies Fakear and Rone, and Danish singer Mø.
This week, the following additional names were announced:
BAND OF HORSES
CAR SEAT HEADREST
THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN
THE LEMON TWIGS
You can find a full list on the official festival website.
Individual day tickets are already on sale for €49 each, while the whole weekend comes in at a bargainous €119. Book now to guarantee you won’t miss out, or scroll down to the end of this post to be in with a chance of winning a pair of weekend tickets including camping absolutely free!
WHERE TO STAY
Why deal with the hassle of organising accommodation when you can take advantage of Rock en Seine’s partnership with Festicket? Packages include ‘ticket + camping’, ‘ticket + apartment’ and ‘ticket + hotel’. Alternatively, you can book your camping separately as long as you have proof of festival ticket purchase. Of course, if you prefer to do the legwork, get yourself a regular ticket and peruse a wide array of accommodation options in and around the city. You could also tag on a day in Paris before the fun begins.
